Ilkay Gundogan receives treatmentbefore leaving the pitch
Pep Guardiola has said he expects to be without Ilkay Gundogan 'for several months' after the midfielder suffered knee ligament damage against Watford.
Gundogan came off after 44 minutes against Watford on Wednesday following an awkward fall and was replaced by Fernando. City went on to win the game 2-0.
Guardiola said: "I'm so so sad with what happened with Gundogan. We are going to miss him for a long time. I think several months. It is the worst news from the day.
"We will know the exact diagnosis tomorrow (Thursday) but it does not look good."
City are already without the suspended Fernandinho and Sergio Aguero for the Super Sunday showdown with Arsenal this weekend, live on Sky Sports.
Gundogan has scored five goals in 16 appearances since his arrival last summer
Gundogan had become a key component in the City set-up following his £20m summer move from Borussia Dortmund, forging a strong midfield partnership with Fernandinho.
He dislocated his right kneecap in training with Dortmund at the start of May, delaying his City debut until the 4-0 Champions League win over Borussia Monchengladbach in September.
