But director of football Txiki Begiristain insists they won’t be spending next month.

Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus, signed for £27m in the summer, is scheduled to join the club in the new year and Begiristain insists that will be it.

He said: “We already have done (business).

"We have Jesus coming – he will strengthen our attack, so we are happy.”
