Richard Peniket is pushing for a start as National League North side FC Halifax look to seal a place in the FA Cup third round with a replay win over Eastleigh on Tuesday.

The Shaymen looked to be heading for round three until two late goals by their hosts salvaged a 3-3 draw at the Silverlake Stadium 10 days ago.

Peniket impressed after replacing Alex Simmons just after the break and could have done enough to convince boss Billy Heath to give him a chance from the start.

The home side go into the game having failed to win any of their last four games and without midfielder Danny Clarke, who is once again cup-tied.

Eastleigh have re-signed veteran midfielder Ben Strevens from Whitehawk, but the 36-year-old is cup tied.

New Spitfires manager Martin Allen fielded a young team for the FA Trophy defeat by Ryman Premier Division Harlow Town in order to rest the senior players ahead of the replay.

Mikael Mandron will be hoping to retain his place in attack after scoring twice in the first tie, including a last-minute equaliser, but midfielder Jason Taylor will miss out as he is set for a hip operation.

Alefe Santos has returned to Derby following the expiration of the midfielder's short-term loan deal, while centre-back Ryan Cresswell (knee) and goalkeeper Ryan Clarke (elbow) continue their recoveries.
