Hull and Palace share the spoils in six-goal thriller

Frazier Campbell scored a late equaliser as Hull City and Crystal Palace shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday.

Rober Snodgrass scored the only goal of the first half from the spot after a controversial penalty decision.

The second half brought five goals, with Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha scoring first to make it 2-1.

Adama Diomande found an equaliser two minutes later, before Jake Livermore's strike looked to have won it for the Tigers.

However, Fraizer Campbell headed home a late equaliser to make it 3-3, as the two sides were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in an entertaining encounter.

With both sides desperate to pick up points going into the busy festive period, it was Palace who grabbed an early chance through winger Wilfried Zaha.

After picking up the ball on the right wing, the former Manchester United man ran at pace taking him past three Hull players and into the Hull City box. His well-hit low shot was on target but David Marshall in the Hull goal did well to produce a fingertip save and push it wide for a corner.

Wayne Hennesey did well when called upon for the first time after 16 minutes when Adama Diomande was set through by a clever ball from midfielder Jake Livermore. The Welsh stopper made himself big before smothering the striker's attempt to dink the ball over him.

Hull did eventually take the lead mid-way through the first half, albeit in the most controversial fashion when Robert Snodgrass was adjudged to have been fouled by Scott Dann in the area.

Replays showed that the Scotland international dived without any contact from Dann's trailing leg in the box, and he stepped up and smashed the subsequent spot-kick into the top-left corner.

The second half brought much entertainment for the neutrals, with a total of five goals being scored, the first of which came from a trailing leg of the first-half villain.

Robert Snodgrass brought down the impressive Zaha in the area, and Christian Benteke calmly slotted home to make it 1-1.

Twenty minutes later, Zaha got one his own with a brilliant piece of individual skill, taking on three Hull players and smashing home an unstoppable strike into the roof of David Marshall's net.

Barely two minutes after going in front, Palace's defence was breached by a forward looking to end a 12-game goal drought.

Adama Diomande, the Norwegian picked up the ball on the edge of the penalty area and, despite Scott Dann and Damien Delaney both closing in, he nutmegged Dann with sharp turn to take both players out of the game before producing a neat finish beyond Hennesey.

The defending got worse with every passing minute and Jake Livermore took advantage of a lapse in concentration, waltzing past Yohann Cabaye, into the area and simply passing the ball into the net.

Mike Phelan's men looked to have found the winner, but second half substitute Frazier Campbell had the last say, heading home an 89th-minute equaliser, meeting an excellent cross from Zaha from the right flank – as the two sides shared the spoils.
