Hibernian FC 2 - 0 Dumbarton: Hibs stay top after downing Dumbarton

Posted Sunday, December 11, 2016 by PA

Hibernian cruised to a 2-0 victory over Dumbarton at Easter Road to remain top of the Scottish Championship.

The hosts slightly shaded a scrappy opening to the game, with Paul Hanlon's aerial ability a constant threat to Dumbarton as he forced Alan Martin to scramble across his goal to deny a near-post header in the 40th minute.

Dumbarton failed to heed the warnings and Hanlon was rewarded for his persistence just before the interval, powering home from Jason Cummings' corner to finally break the deadlock.

Brian Graham doubled Hibs' lead with 14 minutes remaining, finding space in the box to bring the ball down and volley home to ensure the hosts remained top.
