Grimsby Town vs Portsmouth - Same again for Portsmouth

Posted Friday, December 09, 2016 by PA

Portsmouth are set to name an unchanged line-up for their Sky Bet League Two clash against Grimsby at Fratton Park.

Pompey boss Paul Cook confirmed he will keep faith with the side which lost at home to Stevenage two weeks ago.

Defender Jack Whatmough will miss out as he continues his recovery from a slight hamstring problem which kept him out of the Under-23's trip to Everton on Monday.

Striker Curtis Main remains sidelined with an abdominal strain.

Grimsby defender Ben Davies is closing in on a return to fitness but will not be ready to face his former club Portsmouth.

The right-back is expected back in full training within a week but for now Zak Mills will continue unchallenged.

Manager Marcus Bignot has a choice to make between wingers Tom Bolarinwa and Ashley Chambers, with the latter fully fit again.

Sean McAllister (groin) is out but the likes of James Berrett, Brandon Comley and Scott Vernon could earn starts after impressing in an in-house friendly last week.
