Feyenoord Rotterdam vs Fenerbahce - Fenerbahce will not play for a point

Fenerbahce coach Dick Advocaat is seeking victory on his return to Feyenoord on Thursday night - even though a draw would be enough for the Super Lig side to advance into the last 32 of the Europa League.

The 69-year-old Dutchman worked as a technical adviser at De Kuip for a short time earlier in the year before being appointed as Fenerbahce boss.

Now he takes his side back to Holland knowing that a point against Feyenoord would see them through, although defeat could still see them eliminated if Group A rivals Manchester United win at Zorya Luhansk.

Advocaat's side beat their Dutch counterparts 1-0 in the reverse fixture and he knows it will be a difficult task to beat Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men on their own patch.

"We have a good team, but Feyenoord also have a good team," he said at his pre-match press conference.

"I felt very at home here so it is nice to be back. We had a lot of fun and I have contributed a little to the success of Feyenoord in the last year, but the staff have been the largest contributors.

"We have 10 points, normally you go through with that number but we still have to fight for our place. On Thursday I expect a very interesting game between two teams who want to play football.

"Although a draw is enough, we will go for the win and play our strongest team."

Van Bronckhorst has guided Feyenoord to the top of the Eredivisie this season and signed a contract extension with the Rotterdam-based outfit on Tuesday.

Now he is ready to continue their domestic success in Europe and insists he will not be keeping an eye on how second-placed United are progressing in Ukraine, with the pair currently separated by two points.

"On Thursday we do not look at the other game," he said.

"We only look at ourselves, to be sure of getting into the next round we have to win the game by two goals, that is the mission and from the first minute we will go for it."
