Real Madrid playmaker Luka Modric revealed that his side's 1-1 draw with Barcelona on Saturday felt like a win.
Barcelona were just moments away from claiming victory in the first El Clasico of the season, but a 90th minute equaliser courtesy of Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos prevented the Catalan giants from taking the spoils.
Luis Suarez put his team ahead in the 53rd minute, meeting a Neymar free-kick with a powerful header from just a few yards out.
The 31-year-old told the club's official website: "It is hugely important and a deserved point. We fought right up until the end and we never gave up. It is vital that we remain leaders and we do not let up, we must continue in the same way we have until now.
"We played well, especially in the first half and they went ahead, but we never gave up and a goal like that in the Clasico feels like a win."
Madrid's 33-game unbeaten run looked like it would come to an end at the Camp Nou, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen couldn't stop Ramos' header from bulging the net despite getting fingertips on the effort.
Modric was a pivotal figure in midfield throughout the game, keeping possession ticking over with his concise passing and intelligent movement, while providing the assist for Ramos' dramatic late leveller.
The former Tottenham Hotspur man has scored one goal and claimed one assist in eight La Liga appearances this term.
Real Madrid remain six points clear of Barcelona, as they look to become La Liga champions for the 33rd time.
