Port Vale vs Hartlepool United FC - Port Vale missing defensive duo for Hartlepool clash

Posted Friday, December 02, 2016 by PA

Port Vale are without defenders Sam Hart and Kjell Knops through suspension for Sunday's Emirates FA Cup second-round tie against Hartlepool.

The pair picked up their fifth bookings of the season in last week's draw at Shrewsbury and join midfielder Anthony Grant, who is suspended until Boxing Day, on the sidelines.

Vale also have a lengthy injury list from which only forward Jerome Thomas (hamstring) is likely to have a chance of returning this weekend.

Martin Paterson, Sam Foley, Anton Forrester and Ben Purkiss are all out injured.

Hartlepool will be without defender Scott Harrison for the trip to Vale Park.

Harrison was booked for the fifth time this season at Wycombe last weekend and must now serve a one-game ban.

Fellow defender Liam Donnelly has missed Pools' last three matches after suffering a knee injury in the home win against Cheltenham and he will be assessed.

Carl Magnay (knee) and Nathan Thomas (groin) are long-term absentees.
