Rumour: Arsenal set to beat Liverpool to signing of Ethan Ampadu

Arsenal are reportedly favourites to sign Ethan Ampadu from Exeter City despite facing competition from Liverpool.
Ampadu became Exeter's youngest ever player this season, and, at the age of just 16, has already played in League Two on several occasions.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Ampadu, who can play as a defensive-midfielder or as a centre-back, is a team-mate of Reds starlet Ben Woodburn at international level with Wales U19s.
However, Arsenal are eager to seal a move for Ampadu, with their hopes in that regard boosted by the fact that the player's father, Kwame, is the coach of the Gunners' U18 team.
Arsenal have a reputation for signing talented young players and it appears that Ampadu could be the next prospect they add to their ranks. The club have a severe dearth of impressive young defenders so it would be interesting to see if Ampadu was regularly deployed as a centre-back if he did join.
The Gunners, who have created 139 chances in the Premier League this season, face West Ham United away in the Premier League on Saturday.
