Barcelona and Brazil forward Neymar is on Manchester United's radar
MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly open to spending an astonishing £180million to bring Neymar to Old Trafford.
The Brazil star signed a new five-year contract in October keeping him with the Catalans until 2021.
And his release clause was raised to around 200million euros (£170m).
But, according to the Daily Record, this has not put United and Jose Mourinho off from plotting what would be a world record transfer.
United broke the record in the summer when they signed Paul Pogba in the summer for £89m.
However the report says if Neymar wanted to leave, Barcelona would demand a fee of around £180m.
It is claimed United have asked to be kept updated on Neymar's intentions with sources saying his new contract only stuck a plaster on a supposed conflict between the player and Barcelona.
Mourinho, who has struggled this season, is said to be keen on rejuvenating his front line and has wanted to sign Neymar since he was Real Madrid boss.
Neymar's ongoing tax evasion issues are highlighted as a possible reason for wanting to leave the Nou Camp.
The Brazilian ace is reportedly also keen on becoming the 'dominant individual' which he can't at Barcelona with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez vying for top billing.
