Chelsea target was “inches away” from Juventus move

Chelsea have been linked with the signing of Federico Bernardeschi recently, but according to Italian transfer site Calcio Mercato their chase for the wide man could have been a lot more difficult.
According to the site, Bernardeschi was “inches away” from joining Italian giants Juventus at the start of 2015. The Fiorentina man ended up extending his contract in Florence, leaving us in the situation we have now with Chelsea facing a significantly easier task than they would had the Italian completed his move to Turin.
The bad news for Chelsea fans is that Juve are still big fans of Bernardeschi and may challenge any attempt by the Blues to land the player. Both Milan clubs are also named as interested parties in the future of the 22 year old.
Antonio Conte has two excellent wing backs in Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso, but clearly wants to improve his depth in that position by finding dynamic players like Bernardeschi able to play in such a specialised role.
