Bayern Munich re-elect Uli Hoeness as club president

Uli Hoeness was elected as the new Bayern Munich President on Friday evening. The term will run for three years through 2019. Hoeness previously served as Bayern's President from November 2009 - March 2014.
The move to bring Hoeness back into the club in an official capacity will forever remain a controversial move. Hoeness is a convicted felon for avoiding €28.5 million in taxes. It's not the fact that the club found a position for him to continue his lifelong involvement with the club that bothers many people. It's the fact that Bayern have allowed him to seek such a high profile position with the club.
Still, the election is completed and Hoeness is back. "I promise I won't disappoint you," he said in an emotional yet short speech. Hoeness received a standing ovation from the crowd in attendance at the Audi Dome.
The decision to re-elect Hoeness wasn't unanimous, even though he carried 98.5% of the vote. Of the 7,152 club members in attendance, the voting broke down as follows:
For: 6,986
Against: 108
Abstain: 58
