Northampton will check on Sam Hoskins and Lewin Nyatanga ahead of the visit of Bolton.

Midfielder Hoskins went off midway through the second half of Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat at Bradford after suffering a back spasm.

Nyatanga missed the midweek game after suffering an Achilles problem in training on Monday.

Fellow defender Zander Diamond has undergone surgery on his fractured cheekbone.

Liam Trotter returns from suspension for Bolton.

The midfielder was missing in midweek due to a one-game ban as Phil Parkinson's side defeated Coventry 1-0.

Veteran defender David Wheater was also absent with a back injury, though it is hoped that issue is not serious and he could well be back in the team.

Max Clayton (knee) is now considered fit enough for the first team having not played a league game in 12 months, but goalkeeper Mark Howard (thumb), Darren Pratley (broken leg) and Mark Davies (knee) are all out.
