Roy Hodgson hailed Steven Gerrard
Hodgson worked with midfield dynamo Gerrard at both Liverpool and England, with the midfielder skippering both sides.
And the former Three Lions boss said: “He is a good lad and his career is second to none.
"He was every bit as good and easy to deal with as a captain as he was a player.

"Players like him come along rarely and I consider myself fortunate to have been able to work with him both at Liverpool and England.”
Gerrard yesterday announced his retirement as a player after a 19-year career.
The 36-year-old played 710 times for the Reds, winning eight major trophies and joined MLS side LA Galaxy in 2015.
He is England’s fourth most-capped player with 114 appearances and captained the side at three of the six major tournaments he played at.
He had been linked with the manager’s job at MK Dons and at the beginning of this year he revealed he was desperate to get into coaching.
"I’ve dreams and aspirations of going into coaching and management,” he said.
And Hodgson backed Gerrard to be a huge success in any new role he chooses.
"Whatever he decides to do next he is going to be a massive asset to his new employer,” he added.
