Port Vale will be without suspended midfielder Anthony Grant for their home game against Oldham.

Grant served a one-game suspension when sitting out Saturday's defeat at Charlton, but has been handed an additional five-game ban and fined B#2,000 following his recent dismissal against Fleetwood for going back on to the pitch to remonstrate with the official after the final whistle.

Fellow midfielder Sam Foley remains sidelined with an ankle injury, but left-back Sam Hart could return to contention after missing out at the weekend due to the effects of concussion.

Forward Martin Paterson, a half-time substitute at the weekend, is pushing for a recall after dropping to the bench in place of Sebastien Amoros.

Paul Green will be missing when Oldham make the trip.

The midfielder was dismissed for two cautions during Saturday's 1-0 loss to league leaders Scunthorpe, though may have missed the fixture anyway having complained of pain in his troublesome calf problem moments before he was sent off.

Ousmane Fane and Carl Winchester are the two most likely candidates to fill the void left by Green's absence.

Latics, for whom Peter Clarke and Ryan Flynn are one booking away from a suspension, remain in League One's bottom four after three defeats in four in the division.
