Milan are reported to be sending representatives to Germany this weekend to watch Sebastian Rudy, Jeremy Toljan and Nicklas Sule.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Milan director of sport Massimiliano Mirabelli is set to be in the stands when Hoffenheim meet Hamburger on Sunday.
This is ahead of the expected takeover on the Italian outfit by a Chinese consortium in December, the club on the lookout for possible January transfer targets.
German international Rudy is said to be the main target. The 26-year-old midfielder with 12 senior caps will see his contract with Hoffenheim expiring at the end of the season.
Toljan, a 22-year-old academy product left-back, and Sule, a 21-year-old centre-back already capped by Germany, are also said to be on Milan’s radar.
