Outrage as FIFA probes 3 Lions’ minute silence amid new poppy tribute inquiry

The display of poppies on big screens, the minute’s silence and playing of the Last Post are all being analysed.
Both sides have already been rapped by football’s ruling body for wearing poppies during the Armistice Day match on November 11.
They had been warned the poppy breached a ban on “political” symbols and they could be fined.

Fans reacted with fury to the new investigation by scandal-hit Fifa’s disciplinary committee.
One posted: “Both countries Fans slam new poppy tribute inquiry should tell Fifa where to stick their rules.”
Another wrote: “Fifa need to get their own house in order before they start telling other countries what to do. They can’t even govern themselves.”
PM Theresa May has branded Fifa’s stance “utterly outrageous”.
England striker Harry Kane, 23, said the Three Lions stars wanted to wear the symbolic flowers to honour the country’s war heroes.
A Fifa spokesman said: “We can confirm that the disciplinary committee has opened proceedings on this matter.”
The English FA has said it will fight any punishment.
