Charlton Athletic vs Port Vale - Charlton without injured Ricky Holmes for visit of Port Vale

Managerless Charlton will be without midfielder Ricky Holmes for the Sky Bet League One visit of Port Vale.

The 29-year-old was forced off in the recent FA Cup win over Scunthorpe and it has now been confirmed he suffered a fractured foot and could be absent for two months.

Kevin Nugent will take charge of the Addicks following the sacking of Russell Slade earlier in the week and he will be able to call upon a trio of players who missed last weekend's 3-0 loss at Swindon.

Josh Magennis, Jordan Botaka and Ademola Lookman all return to the squad after serving on international duty as Charlton look for their fifth league win of the season.

Port Vale are without midfielder Anthony Grant through suspension following his sending off in last week's victory over Fleetwood.

The 29-year-old received an automatic one-match ban for his dismissal but could face a longer suspension after being charged with misconduct over his actions afterwards.

Michael Brown, Seb Amoros and Anthony de Freitas are all options to replace Grant in midfield.

Forward Anton Forrester is pushing to return after a hamstring injury.
