Scotland interested in making David Moyes their next national team manager

Sunderland manager David Moyes is the frontrunner to take over as Scotland coach should Gordon Strachan be relieved of his duties with the national team.

A 3-0 defeat to England has left Scotland second bottom of their World Cup qualifying group with only Malta behind them, and already the nation’s chances of reaching the 2018 tournament look in serious doubt.

The pressure has increased on Strachan’s position following his side’s worst defeat to England in 40 years and a decision is expected soon on his future as Scotland manager.

And according to ESPN should the SFA decide to remove Strachan then Moyes is the top of the list to take the reigns for the national side.

Despite his difficult start to life in charge of Sunderland Moyes has many admirers in the SFA and his reputation remains unhindered by recent sackings from Manchester United and Real Sociedad.

Moyes is believed to be interested in the role and is a supporter of the coaching educational programme installed at the SFA.
