STEVEN GERRARD would be a welcome signing for Celtic, according to Scott Sinclair.

Gerrard confirmed today he will be leaving LA Galaxy after just two season with the MLS outfit.

The Liverpool legend struggled with the move abroad and injuries, scoring just five goals in 34 appearances for the club.

Reds fans are hopeful he will return to Anfield in a coaching capacity, however, Celtic winger Sinclair wants to see him in a Hoops shirt.

"It'd be a massive thing if he did come here, that would be unbelievable," Sinclair said.

"I think the fans would take to him and it'd be a massive deal in football.

"He's a world-class player so I'm sure that a lot of players would learn from him."

A move to Celtic park for the 36-year-old would see him link up with former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers has enjoyed huge success since taking over from Ronny Deila and is yet to lose a league game with Celtic.

The Bhoys sit top of the Scottish Premiership and are already 10 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen with a game in hand.

"When I left Liverpool, I came to Los Angeles with the goal of helping the Galaxy lift another MLS Cup," Gerrard said.

"I am of course disappointed to have not achieved that objective, but I can look back at my time at the club with pride at what we accomplished, including two straight playoff appearances and countless memorable moments on the pitch.

"As someone who spent the whole of their career in Liverpool, it has been an incredible experience to come to Los Angeles and play for the LA Galaxy."
