Dundee United vs Dunfermline - Dunfermline can kick-start Championship campaign

Dunfermline winger Joe Cardle hopes his side can start looking up the table as they prepare to face Dundee United after a rare clean sheet on Saturday.

The Pars slipped to second bottom in the Ladbrokes Championship following a goalless Fife derby against Raith Rovers but Cardle feels the shutout gives them a platform to improve further at Tannadice on Tuesday night.

Cardle told his club's official website: "The boys worked hard to get the ball back. They just seemed to be giving the ball away and playing lofted balls every time they got it.

"I can't say how frustrated we are to come away with just one point but you have to look at the positives. It wasn't a defeat and we just have to look to Tuesday now.

"It has been mistakes that have killed us as of recent games and if we can clamp down on that we have enough firepower up top to get us goals and create chances.

"It is a good start, obviously we wanted the three points but we have to look to Tuesday now and kick on from there."

United are likely to be without goalkeeper Cammy Bell (calf) and left-back Paul Dixon (knee) after they went off injured in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Queen of the South.

But Mark Durnan, who hit his second goal in two games in Dumfries, is expected to shake off the tight hamstring that forced him off.
