Hull City vs Southampton - Hull's Will Keane hoping to emulate success of twin Michael

Hull striker Will Keane is looking to emulate his twin brother Michael by establishing himself in the Premier League after moving on from boyhood club Manchester United.

Will and Michael Keane came through the ranks at Old Trafford before the latter moved to Burnley on a permanent deal in January 2015, which has turned into a successful two-year spell at the club.

His commanding performances, which helped Burnley return to the top-flight at the first time of asking, brought interest from defending Premier League champions Leicester in the summer before he was called-up for the England senior squad for the first time in October.

With just three Premier League starts to his name, Will Keane is not envious of his brother but rather using his career path as the foundation of where he wants to be after moving to Hull on deadline day in the summer transfer window.

He said: "I have the example of my brother who moved on to Burnley and I think his career has only got better since then. So I'm looking to do the same here.

"We speak all the time, it's there to see as well, I think he has only missed two games in the last couple of seasons so he's had a great run and he's built that experience now and he's a very solid player.

"I think he's improved himself a lot and he's only done that getting the game-time and been put in that situation where he has to deal with it and no I've got to get a good run under my belt and I'll get better. I feel that I am ready for the stage."

Southampton manager Claude Puel is in no doubt Virgil van Dijk can develop into "one of the best defenders in the world".

The Dutchman produced a dynamic display at the heart of the Saints backline against Inter Milan in the Europa League on Thursday night, scoring a fine goal during the second half as Puel's side came from behind to secure a memorable 2-1 victory.

The 25-year-old former Celtic man has been called up again for the Netherlands over the international break.

Puel is in no doubt what Van Dijk can go on to achieve.

"I think Virgil, since the beginning of the season has made progress," the Southampton manager said at his pre-match press conference.

"Virgil has improved both technically and tactically as well, in the duel he is fantastic.

"For me, he has all of the qualities to become one of the best defenders in the world, there is no problem for this, Virgil has the answer - he must continue his work to continue his progress."

Saints head to the KCOM Stadium looking to recover from last weekend's home defeat by Chelsea and remain in the top half of the Premier League table before the international break.

Puel again rotated his squad for their midweek European tie, but is in no doubt of what will be needed when the players kick off against a Hull side scrapping for points after a six-match losing run.

"Now we have to forget the game against Inter Milan, because this match is another important one for us at Hull," the Southampton manager said on the club's official website.

"We have to make good concentration in this game, because in the Premier League we need the points."
