Adrien Rabiot wants to celebrate his France call-up with all three points when Paris St Germain host Rennes in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps has selected the uncapped 21-year-old following impressive performances in the heart of PSG's midfield.
The reigning champions, currently third, will need to play catch up in the league as they already sit six points behind Nice - a lead which the leaders could extend before the game at the Parc des Princes.
Rabiot understands it will be difficult against an in-form Rennes side who are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions.
He told the club's official website: " I think it'll be a tough game because Rennes play and defend well.
"We don't know with what aims they will come, if they will defend with 10 men like a lot of teams. I think they have the quality to play their game and produce a good performance.
"I think it'll be a good match. The coach wants us to be solid at home. I think it's important to show that it's difficult for opponents to score when we're at home."
The central midfielder also spoke about how vital this stage of his career will be and being recognised by the national team was the natural progression.
Rabiot added: "On the pitch, I think I have always taken responsibility. Having said that, I think I have managed to improve, but perhaps the last step was the most important.
"It's perhaps what I needed to be called up by France, to be at international level. I think I'm going through an important period in my career."
Head coach Unai Emery will be without left-back Layvin Kurzawa, who is ruled out through injury, while goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is doubtful and will undergo a late fitness test.
Youngster Remy Descamps will be set to take his place on the bench if the the 23-year-old Areola cannot play.
For the visitors, former PSG player Yoann Gourcuff, midfielder Gelson Fernandes and Ramy Bensebaini have all recovered from injury to travel to Parc des Princes on Sunday.
Algerian centre-back Bensebaini is confident his side can earn something from the game.
He told www.staderennais.com: "You work all week, all together to go to Paris to take the three points. We have no certainty to win this game but we will do everything to.
"Paris remains Paris. It's always a great club, they are very good. We will give the maximum to return with the minimum of a point.
"We are pleased to be fifth in the standings. It grows in strength, we deserve that place. Now we know that a difficult match awaits us on Sunday."
