St. Mirren 0 - 1 Dumbarton: Dumbarton win adds to St Mirren strife
Posted Sunday, November 06, 2016 by PA
St Mirren are still searching for their first win in the Scottish Championship after fellow strugglers Dumbarton edged them 1-0 at Paisley 2021 Stadium.
David Clarkson blazed an effort wide as St Mirren flew out of the blocks, while Lewis Morgan forced a fine save out of Alan Martin, but the hosts failed to take advantage of their early control.
Jamie Langfield pulled off a fine save to deny Garry Fleming just after the break, but in the 63rd minute it was his slack pass that allowed Joe Thomson to square it for the former Irvine Meadow striker to tap home the winner.
Dumbarton's win takes them up to eighth, leapfrogging Dunfermline, while St Mirren are now six points off safety after their eighth defeat in 12 games.
