Colchester will have loan-duo Glen Kamara and Tarique Fosu available to face Chesterfield in the FA Cup first round.

Arsenal have given permission for Finland Under-21 midfielder Kamara to turn out in the cup tie, while Reading have also cleared winger Fosu to represent the Sky Bet League Two club.

Tom Eastman could come back into contention at centre-half, with former Watford defender Lloyd Doyley having started the 2-1 defeat at Plymouth.

Midfielders Doug Loft (Achilles) and Tom Lapslie (hamstring) have stepped up their rehabilitation in training, while winger Brennan Dickenson (hamstring) and defender Matt Briggs (hip) are also closing in on a return, but Owen Garvan (leg) remains out along with left-back Lewis Kinsella (ankle).

Chesterfield are waiting on the results of a scan to determine the extent of Dan Gardner's hamstring problem.

The forward sustained the injury last week and subsequently missed the defeat at Coventry on Tuesday night.

Blues boss Danny Wilson has a handful of other players nursing knocks ahead of the trip to Essex but stopped short of revealing their identities.

Right-back Paul McGinn will be out for around six weeks with his hamstring injury while on-loan striker Conor Wilkinson (knee), midfielder Angel Martinez (knee) and goalkeeper Tommy Lee (shoulder) stay sidelined as the Spireites look to halt a seven-game losing run.
