Wigan Athletic vs Reading - Warren Joyce to lead Wigan for first time against Reading

New Wigan boss Warren Joyce takes charge of the team for the first time against Reading.

Joyce was named as Gary Caldwell's replacement on Wednesday and took his first training session the following morning.

That may not have given him enough time to stamp his own ideas on the club, or the starting XI, but he takes over a side fresh from a win over Cardiff.

Max Power missed that match but is back from suspension, Nick Powell is working his way back from hamstring trouble but Donervon Daniels (knee), Reece James (foot), Andy Kellett (knee) and Alex Gilbey (ankle) have injuries.

Reading centre-half Jake Cooper and striker Yakou Meite (both ankle) are available for selection as they travel to the DW Stadium.

The pair have been involved in friendly and under-23 games to improve their fitness but manager Jaap Stam has admitted he is not going to rush them back.

Joseph Mendes is "another couple of weeks" away as he recovers from a hamstring injury, but it is thought he could be back in contention by the end of the month.

Stephen Quinn did not feature in last weekend's 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest and Stam has confirmed he is struggling with a knee injury.
