Port Vale vs Charlton Athletic - Port Vale to check on Sam Foley ahead of Charlton clash

Posted Monday, October 17, 2016 by PA

Port Vale will check on the fitness of Sam Foley ahead of the visit of Charlton.

The midfielder hobbled off with an ankle injury during the defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday and a late decision will be made about his involvement.

Paulo Tavares will hope to return to the squad after being overlooked at Bramall Lane, despite being available following suspension.

Vale boss Bruno Ribeiro may make changes after the 4-0 loss to the Blades and also has the likes of Rigino Cicilia, Chris Mbamba, Francisco Kiko and Quentin Pereira to call on, although Anton Forrester (hamstring) remains a doubt.

Charlton are expected to retain much of the team that claimed a 3-0 win over Coventry at the weekend.

Should manager Russell Slade decide to make changes for a second fixture in four days, Johnnie Jackson could be pushing for a recall having appeared as a substitute.

Kevin Foley and Jordan Botaka missed out against the Sky Blues following late fitness tests and could also come into contention.

Slade is, however, still without long-term absentee Ahmed Kashi due to an Achilles injury.
