Coventry vs Oxford United - Andy Rose close to Coventry comeback but Oxford game comes too soon

Posted Monday, October 17, 2016 by PA

Andy Rose is close to a Coventry comeback after playing for the club's under-23 side on Monday.

The midfielder has been out since August with a knee injury but is not expected to make a first-team return for a number of weeks as he improves his fitness.

Mark Venus will again lead Coventry against Oxford following Tony Mowbray's exit last month with the Sky Blues bottom of Sky Bet League One.

Chris Stokes and Kwame Thomas remain sidelined for caretaker Venus.

Oxford are without Liam Sercombe and Wes Thomas.

Midfielder Sercombe has a tight hamstring which also saw him ruled out of Saturday's 1-0 win over Bradford.

Striker Thomas was taken off just 39 minutes into the game due to a calf strain and was due to be assessed on Monday.

Joe Skarz remains sidelined due to a shoulder injury.
