Hoffenheim took the honours in a Baden-Wurttemberg derby with a 2-1 win over Freiburg at the Rhein-Neckar Arena.
Sandro Wagner gave Hoffenheim the lead 10 minutes before half-time when he received a gift from Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu before rounding visiting keeper Alexander Schwolow and slotting into an open goal.
Florian Niederlechner brought Freiburg level in the 78th minute, with Soyuncu making amends for his earlier error by providing the assist.
The Turkish defender blotted his copybook once again two minutes later, though, fouling Sebastian Rudy inside the area to concede a penalty which Andrej Kramaric dinked down the middle to earn Hoffenheim all three points.
