Crystal Palace vs West Ham United - Defender Scott Dann still out for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace's Scott Dann remains unavailable for Saturday's Premier League visit of West Ham.

The captain and central defender is still recovering from a hamstring strain, so James Tomkins is expected to start against his former club alongside Damien Delaney.

Manager Alan Pardew hopes Dann will be fit for next Saturday's trip to Leicester, but beyond him his only absentees are Pape Souare, who fractured his thigh and jaw, and Jonathan Benteke, who has an injured knee.

Pardew has no doubt Slaven Bilic will inspire West Ham to recover from their poor start to the season.

After an encouraging year in which Bilic impressively led West Ham to a seventh-placed finish, they are now in the bottom three following seven league games in which they have won only once.

Comparisons can be drawn with the time Pardew took the Hammers to within minutes of winning the 2006 FA Cup before an unexpectedly poor run at the start of the following season led to his sacking in December.

Pardew's first full-time job in management came at Reading in 1999, shortly after they moved to the Madejski Stadium from Elm Park.

Ahead of West Ham's visit, the Crystal Palace manager said of Bilic: "He's an experienced international manager, and he'll know how to deal with it. Better than I will. I have no doubt he'll get it right sooner rather than later.

"It's part of the managerial role we have that everything is centred on the results. Sometimes all the stuff that goes on around them makes it difficult to get those results.

"Moving into a new stadium is always difficult. You're taking away years of traditions, of West Ham fans taking their sons and grandchildren to Upton Park.

"I felt that at Reading from moving from Elm Park to the Madejski. Some are going to find it difficult. Your heritage is based somewhere else. It's problematic for every club, but West Ham will find a way."

Aaron Cresswell is in the West Ham squad for the first time this season.

The left-back is fit after recovering from a knee injury sustained in pre-season, and he is joined by midfielder Havard Nordtveit and striker Jonathan Calleri who have shaken off minor niggles.

Summer signing Gokhan Tore (thigh) and right-back Sam Byram (hamstring) have replaced them in the treatment room while Andy Carroll, Andre Ayew, Arthur Masuaku and Diafra Sakho are still unavailable.

Bilic will be hoping not to be haunted by the two that got away from West Ham.

Hammers boss Bilic reluctantly sold defender Tomkins to the Eagles this summer having been unable to guarantee him enough playing time.

And Bilic also has to come up with a way to stop in-form striker Christian Benteke, who West Ham wanted to sign before he opted to join Palace from Liverpool.

"Benteke was one of the players on our list but he was also on the list of many clubs," said Bilic.

"He went to Palace and now it's irrelevant because he is their player and we have got our strikers.

"I didn't speak to him. We just wanted to know the situation and we couldn't get him basically, it was hard to get him.

"I can say how good he is as a striker and the impact he has made. In the first three games they were struggling but now they are improving with him.

"But we can't just be focused on him because there are many players there who can turn the game."
