Ramos: I will work hard every day to be back

In what rounds off an incredibly difficult recent period in his career, Sergio Ramos has been ruled out for six weeks through injury but has affirmed that he will push himself to return as soon as possible.

Zinedine Zidane has used Ramos in all but one match this term despite the fact his captain has been in a run of poor form which has seen him give away four penalties in total for club and country.

Calls for the defender to be left out of the team were becoming ever so slightly louder yet the Real Madrid boss will now be unable to select him as the club's injury crisis got even worse on Sunday.

"Today is one less day until my return, I will work hard every single day to be back as soon as possible," he explained via Twitter.

"I want to thank you for all the kind messages you sent me over the past days regarding my injury, from the bottom of my heart, thank you all."

When Ramos initially went down in the 79th minute of the clash with Albania it was feared that he had done something much worse especially with anterior cruciate ligament injuries becoming more common of late.

However the former Sevilla defender made clear the exact nature of his injury with it much better than first feared.

"The bad news is that I have a second-degree sprain in my medial collateral ligament," he added. "I hope to recover as soon as possible."
