Voro says Cesare Prandelli presence will further motivate Valencia players

Voro has welcomed the arrival of his likely successor at Valencia and hopes his players put on a good show before he hands the reins to Cesare Prandelli.

The caretaker manager has delivered back-to-back LaLiga wins since Pako Ayestaran was dismissed in September, but it appears the Valencia board is preparing to appoint former Italy coach Prandelli.

The 59-year-old - expected to sign a two-year deal - landed at the city's airport on Saturday morning and will watch Los Che tackle high-flying Atletico Madrid from the stands of the Mestalla.

Former Valencia defender Voro, now in his fourth stint as interim boss, feels Prandelli's presence will further motivate an improving team.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, quoted in Marca, he said: "Prandelli is here to watch the match so he can observe things in their natural state.

"It's an extra incentive for the players and will ensure they're well up for the game.

"Prandelli is a coach with a lot of experience who has managed at the highest level with national teams and at clubs. There's nothing left for him to learn.

"I don't know him personally but I know he's a great coach."

Referring to the Atletico encounter, he added: "They are a top team who have reached two Champions League finals. They've just beaten Bayern Munich!

"We need to use all of our attributes and the most important thing is that we are competitive. That way we will be successful."

Atleti boss Diego Simeone has already moved on from the 1-0 midweek victory over Bayern that gave his side the upper hand in their mission to reach the Champions League knockout stages.

He told Marca: "Football moves on and we have to head into Sunday's game with intensity and fully concentrated on the task at hand. The good stuff we did against Bayern is in the past."

When asked about the uncertainly that could affect Valencia given their coaching set-up remains in transition, the Argentinian added: "We don't focus on things like this in order to gain an advantage.

"We believe we can find ways to succeed by playing our best football out there on the field."
