Hartlepool United FC vs Luton Town - Hartlepool have defensive concerns for Luton clash

Hartlepool have worries in defence for the home clash with Luton.

Scott Harrison's late dismissal in Saturday's 1-1 draw at leaders Plymouth means he will be suspended, and with fellow centre-backs Matthew Bates (bruised foot) and Rob Jones (hip) still struggling, boss Craig Hignett is light at the back.

Liam Donnelly is likely to move from right-back to the centre of defence, with Jordan Richards coming in.

In-form forward Nathan Thomas came off with a knock after opening the scoring at Home Park but it is hoped he will be okay to start, but midfielder Michael Woods (calf) and full-back Carl Magnay (knee) are out.

Luton will be without striker Danny Hylton after he was sent off in the closing stages of the weekend win against Doncaster.

Hylton was shown two yellow cards and will serve a one-match ban.

The Hatters will also be without defender Scott Cuthbert after he was stretchered off and taken to hospital following a neck injury sustained in the same game.

Glen Rea is still sidelined with a knee ligament injury but could return for the trip to Cheltenham on Saturday, while Craig Mackail-Smith and Danny Green remain long-term absentees as they continue their rehabilitation.
