Cagliari 2 - 1 Sampdoria: Emiliano Viviano blunder gifts Cagliari win over Sampdoria

Substitute Federico Melchiorri seized on a terrible goalkeeping mistake by Emiliano Viviano to score a late winner as Cagliari beat Sampdoria 2-1 in Serie A.
Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes looked to have earned Sampdoria a point when he cancelled out Joao Pedro's first-half opener in the 86th minute.
But two minutes later Viviano completely missed his kick as he attempted to clear the ball, leaving Melchiorri to slot home into the unguarded net.
The home side edged ahead eight minutes before the break at Stadio Sant'Elia when Brazilian midfielder Pedro volleyed in from close range following Simone Padoin's strong run and cutback from the left.
The lead lasted until the final stages when substitute Fernandes fired a low shot past substitute keeper Rafael after being teed up by Ricky Alvarez before Viviano's inexplicable error consigned the visitors to a fourth successive loss.
