Rotherham vs Cardiff - Lee Frecklington to start for Rotherham against Cardiff

Posted Friday, September 23, 2016 by PA

Rotherham captain Lee Frecklington will start against Cardiff in the Sky Bet Championship.

The influential midfielder has come off the bench in the last two games following a calf injury but boss Alan Stubbs has confirmed he is now ready to start.

Right-back Darnell Fisher returns from a one-game ban and will replace Stephen Kelly, who has a thigh problem, while on-loan midfielder Tom Adeyemi is unavailable against his parent club.

Striker Dexter Blackstock is likely to be in the squad as he builds up his fitness following his free transfer a fortnight ago, though a place on the bench is the best he can hope for.

Cardiff boss Paul Trollope will assess the fitness of midfielder Anthony Pilkington before naming his squad.

Pilkington was withdrawn from last week's home defeat to Leeds due to a thigh injury and remains doubtful as the Bluebirds bid to avoid a fifth straight league defeat.

Trollope has no new major injury worries but could be tempted to make changes with Lex Immers, fellow striker Frederic Gounongbe and winger Kadeem Harris in contention.

Midfielder Stuart O'Keefe remains a long-term absentee as he recovers from a broken arm.
