Portsmouth vs Barnet - Chaplin could take centre stage as Pompey host Barnet

Portsmouth striker Conor Chaplin could start for Paul Cook's side as they look to get back to winning ways against Barnet at Fratton Park.

Pompey saw their four-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of Accrington last weekend but Chaplin is set to return to the starting line-up after scoring for the reserves in midweek.

Jack Whatmough (knee) and Matt Clarke (groin) are edging closer to first-team action after both players featured for the reserves, but Saturday's game may come too soon for the defensive pair.

Cook also confirmed that Noel Hunt is fit after a precautionary check on a groin problem, while Curtis Main continues to make good progress on a facial injury but is set to miss out.

Barnet defender Bira Dembele is expected to return to the starting XI after being named on the bench for their draw against Colchester last weekend.

The 28-year-old has struggled with bruised ribs and passed a fitness test prior to the game but boss Martin Allen did not want to rush the Frenchman back into action.

Michael Gash, James Pearson and Gavin Hoyte remain sidelined as they all recover from knee injuries.

The Bees have no fresh injury worries.
