Brighton vs Barnsley - Brighton set to bring back first-choice players for Barnsley visit

Posted Thursday, September 22, 2016 by PA

Brighton boss Chris Hughton will revert to his first-choice line-up for the visit of Barnsley.

Hughton made 11 changes following Saturday's 1-0 win at Burton as the Seagulls crashed out of the EFL Cup at Reading on Tuesday night.

David Stockdale, Lewis Dunk, Bruno, Dale Stephens, Tomer Hemed and Anthony Knockaert will be among the players recalled, although Connor Goldson's return from a long-term knee injury against the Royals will give Hughton a selection dilemma at the back.

Winger Kazenga LuaLua remains sidelined with a knee problem.

Barnsley defender James Bree will return to contention after missing the last four games due to a hamstring injury.

Bree has trained with the first-team squad this week and could feature as Aidan White has been ruled out due to a torn gluteal muscle, while Cole Kpekawa is pushing for his first start and fellow defender Adam Jackson is hoping to make his first appearance.

Head coach Paul Heckingbottom is not expected to make too many changes, but the likes of midfield pair Saidy Janko and Sam Morsy are also pushing for their first starts.

Winger Ryan Williams (groin) remains a long-term absentee as the Reds chase their sixth win in eight league matches.
