Real Sociedad romped to a comfortable 4-1 victory over early pace-setters Las Palmas at the Estadio Anoeta on Wednesday night.

Willian Jose got the ball rolling in the first minute and rounded off the hosts' scoring with a 53rd-minute penalty, with Carlos Vela netting a 21st-minute spot-kick and David Zurutuza heading the third.

The result left La Real eighth, three places and two points behind Las Palmas, who began the season with back-to-back wins but are now starting to find life rather tougher in the top flight.

Real could not have wished for a better start as Willian Jose put them a goal up in the first minute, receiving the ball from Mikel Oyarzabal and finding the left corner of Javi Varas' goal.

The night was effectively over for Las Palmas in the 20th minute as Kevin-Prince Boateng handled Willian Jose's headed effort.

The former Ghana international was shown a red card and Vela despatched the resultant penalty to leave the Canary Islanders right up against it.

Willian Jose headed a chance just wide from Xabi Prieto's cross in the 28th minute, but the same supplier was able to pick out Zurutuza to head in Real's third seven minutes later and completely kill the game off.

The home side grabbed a fourth eight minutes into the second half as David Simon fouled Oyarzabal in the box and Willian Jose stepped up to score his second.

Tana pulled one back quickly, steering in a right-footed shot from a Roque Mesa pass, and Jonathan Viera went close with a long-range 63rd-minute shot.

Life may not get easier any time soon for Las Palmas, who welcome Real Madrid to Gran Canaria on Saturday night.
