Lyonnais 5 - 1 Montpellier: Lyon thrash Montpellier

Posted Thursday, September 22, 2016 by PA

Nabil Fekir and Corentin Tolisso both scored twice as Lyon crushed 10-man Montpellier 5-1.

The visitors took a surprise lead in the third minute when Morgan Sanson fired home, but holding on was made a lot more difficult when Morgan Poaty was sent off for a poor challenge on Tolisso.

Fekir was fouled in the penalty area in the 36th minute and picked himself up to equalise, and the turnaround was complete before half-time when Tolisso headed home a Maciej Rybus corner.

Fekir scored his second goal of the game in the 57th minute and well-struck shot from the edge of the box from Tolisso made it 4-1 with just under 20 minutes remaining.

Maxwel Cornet capped a fine display with a late fifth via a deflection as Lyon moved up to seventh in the Ligue 1 table.
