Hertha BSC Berlin 2 - 0 Schalke 04: Hertha keep up 100 per cent start in Bundesliga
Posted Monday, September 19, 2016 by PA
Hertha Berlin joined Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga with a 2-0 win over Schalke which leaves their opponents rooted to the bottom of the standings with Werder Bremen.
Two goals in 10 second-half minutes from Mitchell Weiser and Valentin Stocker allowed Pal Dardai's men to set up a true top-of-the-table clash with Bayern in midweek, between the only two sides still with a 100 per cent record after three games of the season.
Meanwhile Schalke, who beat Nice 1-0 in the Europa League on Thursday, have yet to pick up any points in the league so far this season and they could have no complaints about losing in the capital either.
Tiredness may have been a reason, but the Royal Blues rarely tested Rune Almenning Jarstein in the Hertha goal, with just a handful of deflected efforts needing any serious attention.
They will now look to pick up their first points of the season at home to unbeaten Cologne on Wednesday.
