Grimsby Town vs Crewe Alexandra - Grimsby could be set for triple injury boost

Grimsby boss Paul Hurst could receive a triple injury boost ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet League Two clash with Crewe.

Dan Jones, Rhys Browne and Sean McAllister could all come back into contention after frustrating spells on the sidelines for all three.

Jones has recovered from a knee injury and is expected to push for a starting place.

Browne (hamstring) and McAllister (groin) have also returned to training but Hurst will give them a late check before confirming his line-up.

Chris Dagnall (Achilles) and Alex Kiwomya (hamstring) should be fit for Crewe.

Both players were expected to resume training on Thursday and Alex boss Steve Davis is confident they will be in the travelling squad, along with Harry Davis who has been struggling with illness.

However, Liam Smith's loan at the club could be over before it ever began after the midfielder suffered a second ankle injury in training.

The 20-year-old, injured during pre-season, had recently resumed training but injured the other ankle on Monday and looks set for a four-month spell out - with his loan at Gresty Road due to end in January.
