Shrewsbury Town vs Scunthorpe United - Jim O'Brien could return for Shrewsbury

Jim O'Brien could return for Shrewsbury after missing the last four games with a groin injury.

The midfielder has been sidelined since Town's 1-0 EFL Cup defeat to Sunderland but is back in training and could face Scunthorpe at Greenhous Meadow.

Junior Brown is also expected to be available after an ankle injury forced him to sit out last week's defeat at Bury, although Adam El-Abd serves a one-match ban.

And striker Ivan Toney, who has three goals in his last three games, is a major doubt after failing to train all week because of his own ankle problem and Joe Riley has a knee injury.

High-flying Scunthorpe have confirmed they will be without striker Tom Hopper for a number of weeks due to an ankle problem.

Hopper, who missed last week's 4-0 win over Southend at Glanford Park, had scored three goals in his side's opening four league games of the season.

But there is better news for boss Graham Alexander as Paddy Madden is ready to step up and fill in during Hopper's unfortunate absence.

Madden marked his first league start of the season with a goal against the Shrimpers and Alexander is set to keep him in the starting line-up for Saturday's trip.
