Welcome to 7M Weekly!

The summer transfer market has been active for about 2 months. Many big names don't complete their deals until transfer deadline day, tough.

7M Weekly - City had the last laugh in the derby

Anthony Martial made a £36million last-minute move to Old Trafford last summer, while David Luiz is also late mover on transfer deadline day this season. What's worth mentioning is that, Marseille even brought in 3 players at the last minute in 2015.

People, in fact, are accustomed to transfers in such "ridiculous" way——Players, managers, and even clubs won't make their decisions until the last minute.

The buyers hope to bring down the price, or at least take their decisions after assessing the squad's quality from their performance at the very beginning.  And the sellers managed to hold on until the last minue to force the admirers to give up or raise their offers.

This week, 7M will look at the French internationals who joined EPL at the last minute.

England's miserable run at Euro 2016 didn't mean that EPL is primitive. This league actually is of benefit to many national teams, and France is one of them.

Only 9 players from Didier Deschamps' 23-man squad didn't play in Premier League.

This summer, there were even 2 French internationals completed their moves to Premier League clubs on transfer deadline day.

1. Moussa Sissoko

France midfielder moved from Newcastle to Tottenham for £30m on August 31st. Though France lost to Portugal in the final this summer, one of their players is not a loser. We must say Sissoko endured a mierable run at Newcastle, which were relegated from the Premier League. The 26-year-old was really caught the eye with impressive performances. The versatile midfielder is not only physically strong, but also with a fast sprint. Even in the painful final, he is beyond reproach. Playing in the Premier League again, Sissoko deserved our attention.

2. France U21 international Georges-Kevin N'Koudou

Tottenham also confirmed a deadline day deal to bring N'Koudou to White Hart Lane. The first part of his football life hasn't been all that good. France winger even played futsal instead following 2-year spell at Paris Saint-Germain. The encouragement of his friends spurred N'Koudou into playing soccer. He was rewarded with his first-team debut for Nantes on August 10th, 2013. The 21-year-old even scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists in his 28 apperances for Ligue 1 in the following season. His searing speed, combined with his supreme dribbling ability are N'Koudou's major strengths. A move to the Premier League is considered as an opportunity for the midfielder.

EPL Matchday 4

Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City

This week, the clash between former Real Madrid manager Mourinho and ex-Barcelona boss Guardiola was the most anticipated. In the first 45 minutes, City were put in complete control and outclassed United through Kevin de Bruyne's cool finish and Kelechi Iheanacho's tap-in.  Although the Red Devils pulled a goal back by new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mourinho's troop finally failed with 1-2 at Old Trafford.

Arsenal 2-1 Southampton

Arsenal earned all the three points at home as they came from behind to beat Southampton 2-1, which was contributed by Laurent Koscielny's equalizer and Santi Cazorla's stoppage-time penalty. After this match, Arsenal are five points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Stoke City 0-4 Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane scored his 50th league goal, while Stoke's manager Mark Hughes was sent off in this match. Tottenham won 4-0 at the Bet365 Stadium with goals from Son Heung-min, Dele Alli and Harry Kane. On the other hand, Stoke remained bottom of the table with only one point and 10 goals conceded.

Liverpool secured an impressive 4-1 win over Premier League champions Leicester City at a new-look Anfield on Saturday evening. On the other hand, the defending champions just got 4 points and stayed at the lower place of the table at present.

Swansea City 2-2 Chelsea FC

The first match of this week saw Chelsea 2-2 held by Swansea City. Conte's consecutive wins with Chelsea were ended by this rival and they dropped their first points of the Premier League season. At a point, Swansea changed their defensive end from 3 defenders to 4 defenders, which has disturbed the visitor. However, Diego Costa struck twice to rescue a draw in a feisty encounter at Swansea City.

La Liga Matchday3

Real Madrid have won their 15th consecutive La Liga match with a 5-2 defeat against newly promoted Osasuna at the Bernabeu, which created a history for Los Blancos. Goals from the returning Cristiano Ronaldo, Danilo and Sergio Ramos gave Zinedine Zidane’s side a commanding 3-0 half-time lead. Then Pepe headed a fourth after 55 minutes, before Luka Modric made it 5-0. However, the visitors were unlucky to be smashed finally even though they pulled 2 goals back.

Barcelona 1-2 Alaves

On the other side of La Liga, Barcelona suffered a shock home defeat of 1-2 by newly promoted Alaves. Ibai Gomez scored the winner. Barca's Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were out of the line-up according to manager Luis Enrique. After this clash, Barca are three points behind leaders Real Madrid.

UEFA Champions League Group Stage

Barcelona 7-0 Celtic

Having just finished their fixture in La Liga, Barcelona started their UEFA Champions League group stage journey, where Luis Enrique's team thrashed Celtic with a resounding victory 7-0. A Hat-trick from Messi, two from Suarez and one each from Neymar and Iniesta showed Celtic what playing in Europe is all about. Till now, Barca already get rid of their depression of losing to the newly-promoted Alaves.

Manchester City 4-0 Monchenqladbach

A torrential downpour a couple of hours before kick-off on Tuesday had forced the original game to be called off.  About half of Monchengladbach's fans flew home before the rearranged match on Wednesday. Sergio Aguero struck a second hat-trick of the season for Manchester City to defeat Borussia Monchengladbach in their Champions League group opener.

Bayern Munich 5-0 FK Rostov

Five-time champions Bayern Munich smashed Russian debutants Rostov without mercy in the Champions Leauge by a 5-0 victory. They also achieved the record of 13th consecutive win at home in this competition. Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Mueller, two from rising star Joshua Kimmich and another from Juan Bernat gave Carlo Ancelotti's team a perfect start to their Group D campaign.

Real Madrid 2-1 Spoting Lisbon

Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata struck in the final minutes to seal a stunning Real Madrid comeback to beat Sporting Lisbon 2-1 to start their Champions League group opener, even though the La Liga leader fell behind Lisbon as Bruno Cesar netted home first at 47th minute. With back to back wins recently, Zinedine Zidane’s side would be more confident in the following fixtures.

Club Brugge 0-3 Leicester City

Leicester City earned the first Champions League match in their history with a 3-0 victory against Club Brugge in Belgium. A defensive error from Luis Hernandez's long throw allowed Marc Albrighton to score the Foxes' first shot. Another two goals from Riyad Mahrez helped Leicester to secure a win. With such superb form, Premier League champions could be expected more.
