SL Benfica 1 - 1 Besiktas JK: On-loan Anderson Talisca stuns parent club Benfica with dramatic late leveller

On-loan midfielder Anderson Talisca scored a stoppage-time free-kick against parent club Benfica to earn Besiktas a 1-1 draw on their return to the Champions League after a six-year absence.
Benfica, who reached the quarter-finals last season where they lost to Bayern Munich, looked on course to start their Group B campaign with all three points following a first-half goal from Franco Cervi.
However, the Turkish side produced a late rally and secured what looked an unlikely draw two minutes into stoppage time when Talisca - who was allowed to leave the Portuguese side last month - whipped a 25-yard free-kick up over the wall and into the top left corner.
Benfica started brightly, and it was no surprise when the home team went ahead on 12 minutes.
Eduardo Salvio was a danger down the left as he broke onto a long ball. After cutting back inside, his shot at the near post was parried out by Besiktas goalkeeper Tolga Zengin, but Cervi was first to the loose ball in the six-yard box to open the scoring.
Benfica goalkeeper Santana Ederson was called into action when he palmed away a long-range free-kick from Ricardo Quaresma, the Portugal international who has had spells with both rival clubs Sporting Lisbon and Porto.
The visitors made a change for the second half, bringing on Talisca to replace Oguzhan Ozyakup.
Fellow Besiktas substitute Cenk Tosun fired over before at the other end Benfica forward Goncalo Guedes was denied by a decent stop from Zengin.
But, just when it looked when Benfica had done enough for the spoils, there was late drama after Guillermo Celis was penalised for handball in a central position some 25 yards out, and Talisca lashed the resulting free-kick into the net to stun the home support.
