QPR vs Newcastle - QPR to check on Sebastian Polter's fitness ahead of Newcastle visit

QPR will check on the fitness of striker Sebastian Polter ahead of the visit of Newcastle.

Polter was substituted at half-time against Blackburn on Saturday as a precaution because of a problem with a gluteal muscle.

Polish winger Pawel Wszolek can be added to the squad following his recent loan switch from Hellas Verona.

Defender Joel Lynch is closing in on a return to action after a spell out with an abdominal injury.

Newcastle new boys Daryl Murphy and Christian Atsu will make the trip south as the Magpies go in search of a fifth-successive Championship victory.

Neither man travelled to Derby at the weekend, while Achraf Lazaar was an unused substitute at the iPro Stadium and all three will hope for a taste of the action at Loftus Road.

De Andre Yedlin hopes his efforts from the bench in the last two games, which include his side's second goal in a 2-0 win over the Rams, will earn him a first start with manager Rafael Benitez having options at his disposal after a busy summer recruitment drive.

But midfielder Rolando Aarons will be sidelined for around eight weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured metatarsal, while keeper Rob Elliot continues to work his way back to full fitness after a cruciate ligament injury.
