Sheffield Wednesday vs Bristol City - David Jones back in the mix for Sheffield Wednesday

Posted Monday, September 12, 2016 by PA

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder David Jones will return to contention for the home game against Bristol City following suspension.

Summer signing Jones, who sat out Saturday's home win against Wigan due to a one-game ban, is expected to be back in the squad.

Midfielder Barry Bannan, nursing a groin strain, was withdrawn at the weekend as a precaution and defender Daniel Pudil was forced off with cramp, but both are hoping to feature.

Forward Lucas Joao is closing in on a return to action after a groin problem as the Owls chase their third league win of the season.

Bristol City expect Hordur Magnusson and Callum O'Dowda to be fit following the 2-2 draw with Rotherham.

Iceland defender Magnusson took a bump to the head and midfielder O'Dowda suffered a dead leg on Saturday.

Sweden international Joel Ekstrand could start for the first time after making his debut as a substitute at Rotherham.

Robins boss Lee Johnson might include Korey Smith (ankle) for the first time this season in an enlarged 24-man squad, but Adam Matthews (hamstring) remains out.
