Rain forces Genoa-Fiorentina clash to be abandoned

Fiorentina's Serie A match at Genoa had to be abandoned after 28 minutes following torrential rain.

The game remained goalless when a heavy downpour caused referee Luca Banti to temporarily halt proceedings at Stadio Luigi Ferraris before he called the game off due to the condition of the pitch.

Genoa, who began the season with consecutive wins, came closest to a breakthrough when Serge Gakpe headed just over the crossbar from Diego Laxalt's 25th-minute cross.
