Juventus players felt betrayed after Paul Pogba joined Man United

Paul Pogba's world-record move to Manchester United has left his former Juventus teammates feeling betrayed.

According to Italian media outlet Tuttosport, the £89 million deal left a bitter taste in Turin because the 23-year-old midfielder insisted he would stay with the Italian champions for at least one more year.

Paulo Dybala was extremely good friends with Pogba at Juve, and he was not happy after the transfer and the club's captain Gianluigi Buffon was also shocked by the Frenchman's decision to return to Old Trafford.

During the current international break, Dybala has claimed, "I'm sure I'll see Paul when we retire." The talented Argentinian forward told reporters earlier this summer that, after speaking to Pogba, he was certain that the highly-rated French star would remain at Juventus.

It has also been revealed that Juventus, who have won Serie A in each of the last five seasons, were planning to offer Pogba a bumper new contract as they looked to continue their total domination of Italian football.

Juventus president Andrea Agnelli and director general Giuseppe Marotta had no intention of selling the charasmatic midfield maestro this summer.  In fact, they were drawing up an enticing new deal with a significant pay increase in order to tie him down for another year.

However, as it turned out, they were unable to match what Man United were willing to pay for him and so Pogba was sold a year before they club wanted to.

UNITED BACK ON TOP?

Meanwhile, legendary ex-Man Utd goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel believes that the club's acquisition of Pogba is a great statement of intent from new manager Jose Mourinho and a sign of United's financial muscle.

"You can argue how you can let him go in the first place, but the important thing is the statement that he is the best player in the world for that position," Schmeichel told Omnisport.

"And we don't care how much he costs, we can pay him. So can Man City, so can Chelsea, so can other clubs, but we can too. We make our own money, we don't have someone sat back putting the money in."

HOW HAS POGBA STARTED THE SEASON?

Despite helping his country reach the final at Euro 2016, Pogba has played 90 minutes in each of his opening two Premier League games for the Red Devils and he's looked very impressive.

The former United youth team player has displayed power, athleticism, quality on the ball, and he can provide creativity from a deeper position - something the side have lacked since the days of Paul Scholes.

United fans will also be pleased to hear that he also starred for France against Italy on Thursday night, setting up two goals in a 3-1 win in Bari, including an assist for club teammate Anthony Martial.
