Granada's record signing Jose Angulo has tested positive for cocaine, and will subsequently have his transfer annulled within days.
Angulo moved from Ecuadorian club Independiente to La Liga's Granada for €4.5 million in August.
As reported by Football Espana, a statement on Granada's official website revealed that the counter-analysis of Angulo's drug testing, which occurred during the Copa America this summer, confirmed the initial fail result.
The club's sporting director Piru Torralbo then informed Radio Granada that the striker had tested positive for cocaine.
The Andalusian club suspended the 21-year-old's contract last Friday, after his failed drug test first came to their attention. Granada now look set to terminate his five-year contract.
Moreover they won't have to pay the Ecuadorian club any of the transfer fee, as Angulo's transfer has also been voided. The striker is still in Granada, but hasn't been involved in training since news of his failed drugs test emerged.
The youngster's reputation as a promising talent has now been tainted; he was considered the revelation of the 2016 Copa America.
